Save me

It’s when you find yourself pushing away the one’s that love you

It’s when you realize you are better off alone

It’s when you fight them off to keep the last pieces of your heart safe

It’s when you hurt yourself before anyone else tries to hurt you

It’s when you fear letting anyone in

That you realize you are emotionally incomplete,

Emotionally insecure,

Emotionally damaged.

If only he knew…

I stared at him in silence

Words could not describe the intense emotions that flowed within me

He was magnificent

A creation so beautiful, only the worthy could understand

I saw pain behind his smile

Triumph in the way he carried himself

A true warrior

A symbol of battles fought and won

He was my hero

And he still is

If only he knew…

Wi-Fi, new school music and my crazy addiction to YouTube

Growing up in a small town with no cellphone until I was 18(family policy, my mom is strict like that) was a great but bumpy ride. With all sorts of awesome phones coming and missing me one after another made me feel some type of way but I truly enjoyed my childhood and teenage life exploring the outdoors and engaging in some extra murals. Then I came to varsity and got introduced to Wi-Fi. It was like a dreeeeeam! Roaming the internet not woried about my data (since its so darn expensive), wasting hours and hours of time researching silly but interesting topics isn’t the best part. It was the music y’all, it was the music that Wi-Fi led me to that still has me star struck.

I found music from The internet(cant go a day without listening to their music), Willow and Jaden Smith, Daniel Caesar, Jorja Smith, IAMDDB, James Blake, Goldlink, Solange, Anderson Paak, Masego and Syd as a solo artist and I was hooked. Well the list could go on and on cause there’s just so much beautiful music out there. I didn’t care about the year of release or the date, I just knew that stuff was timeless and I’d listen to it forever. I’d imagine myself on the freeway on a trip to nowhere that I never want to end.

The colours show is one of the channels that led me to discovering more and more great artists. Each one showcasing their talents and adding their own element to the world music. I was like whoa! Where have these people been all my life. I tell you it’s a journey and a half. I confess I’m a sucker for instrumentals. I’d like a song mainly cause of it’s instrumentals and fall in love with the words later. That’s just the way I am. So yeah that has been my year and music.

Imma leave y’all with one of my favourite songs by Daniel Caesar which is titled Violet (Hear it through your earphones, it’ll blow your mind I promise). I hope it takes you to other galaxies like it takes me.

Have an awesome day and a great week ahead!

Hugs and kisses

“No one is you and that is your power”

In order to fully understand the depth of this statement one must truly know who they are. The above quote is by Dave Grohl and it inspires me everyday. What is an individual? What is individuality and why does it matter to me?

An individual is a single human being as distinct from a group. Meaning that each and every one of us has their own abilities, talents , emotions, thoughts and opinions. Individuality is the character of a particular person or thing that distinguishes them from others of the same kind. The concept of individuality is very special to me. In a world filled with trends and fashions this notion has the ability to set us apart from one another. We as humans will never ever be the same and once we realize this we’ll be able to tap into our full potential. It’s harmless to draw inspiration and motivation from people we look up to but it’s harmful to idolize them. We tend to want to be like them so strongly that we forget who we are and we stray from the journey of finding our true purpose in life.

Sometimes we fall into this trap without notice and its not easy to realize this. So remind yourself everyday of where you want to go and why you want to go there. Realize you’ll never have the same dream as another person simply because you are not them. They are them and you are you. So start now and study yourself. Do a SWOT analysis if you have to cause the more you know about you the better. The journey to self knowledge and self improvement is a long and tedious one but is worth every ounce of strength. Going with the flow seems easy but being a lost, ungrounded adult is not a good feeling to live with. Knowing yourself helps you to make sensible and reasonable decisions pertaining your own life and that in turn leads to a happier life.

Stay true to yourself and never doubt your unwavering spirit!

Stay beYOUtiful

Let’s keep that melanin poppin’ and cancer free!

Hey guys

I hope you doing good and the week is treating you well. As most of y’all can feel, the temperatures are rising and the sun is blazing. The summer spirit is in the air (well literally and figuratively) and most of us can’t wait to get our sexy on with some shorts and tank tops.

I as a dark skinned person have always thought that the sun has absolutely no effect on me. I would just roam around freely without any sun protection till I heard about skin cancer. Skin cancer is a cancerous destructive growth of the skin and it can affect everyone, no matter your race or skin tone. One of it’s causes is cumulative exposure to the sun and we are going to be out and about cause the weather allows. While we all build up our excitement of going to the beach or just hanging out this summer, here’s a few tips on how you can take care of your skin in this hot weather:

♡ Use a day cream with an SPF element in it.

♡ Use sun screen if you are going to be exposed to the sun for a long period of time.

♡ Have a cap or hat on, or have an umbrella when you in the sun.

Those are the ones I normally use. So you can add your own methods or just start using those if you haven’t been using them.

I hope this post is going to be helpful and as they say prevention is better than cure. So don’t forget to take care of your skin and it will take care of you.

Stay slaying Queens and Kings and carry on having a productive week.

Lots of love

You don’t have to wait for December 31 to make a new year’s resolution!

Hey guys

I hope all is well and that you had a great start to your week. Its the 31st of October and the year is quickly coming to an end. Summer is around the corner and my checklist of 2017’s goals is not fully ticked yet.

We all have some sort of goals set for oursleves be it body goals, academic goals, spiritual growth goals or psychological goals. A goal set is a goal that desrved to be achieved. As we grow everyday and discover new things,we sometimes feel the need to aspire to reach a level of new growth within ourselves. No matter the time of year, its never too late to set a new goal. The timeline of our lives is not controlled by the calender but by how we choose to use everyday. So if you feel like starting a home workout routine to get that sexy body you’ve always wanted, do it(I know I’m starting tomorrow). If you feel like you need to get out more and make new friends, join a social club that involves one of your interests. It’s never too late. No matter how big or small it may seem to you, set it, pursue it, give it your best shot and you’ll see results. As I’m writing this, I take breaks to play with my mini boep, which I’ve grown over the past few months, that initially inspired me to write this post.

So let’s get working on those goals and hopefully I’ll have the inspiration to write another post about the possibility of reaching your goals despite any distractions, laziness or procrastination. The inspirational pic was found on google. Trust me there’s way more where that came from. So if you struggling or you need more ooomf, give google a shot to give you that much needed kick.

Have a productive week and stay motivated!
